Congratulations to the new open champion Louis OosthuizenFollowing Doosans recent official patron for The Open Championship,
the oldest and most prestigious of the four major global golf events. The
sponsorship was an important part of Doosan's marketing strategy that will
support the company's aim to become one of the Global 200 companies by 2020. The Open was organised by The R&A, golf's governing body, and is
celebrating its 150th year. Doosan will be one of six patrons including Rolex
and Lexus. Doosan will be the first Korean company to join The Open.
The Open was seen by a crowd of 250,000 at the event and the competition
was broadcast to 163 nations including Europe and North America. Doosan is
well represented in Europe and the Americas through its growing power plant
business, Doosan Power Systems, with headquarters in the UK."Joining The Open as
a patron is an excellent opportunity for Doosan to raise its profile throughout
the world, and we believe the outcome will definitely surpass our expectations,"
explained Iain Miller, the CEO of Doosan Power Systems, Doosan's subsidiary
power-plant business in Europe and America. "The Open Championship has a
very special place in the world of golf and at a time when Korean golf is more
and more prominent in the world this is a very natural partnership."
Doosan will also build its marketing strategies in Europe and North America
through its other affiliates such as Doosan Babcock (steam generation
manufacturer), Doosan IMGB (forging and casting), Skoda Power (plant turbine
manufacturer) and Doosan Infracore International (construction equipment
including Bobcat).
